In Saint Paul, Minnesota It’s -30.5C today. But Spring is on the way.
Many doors have locks
so do canals and rivers
Locks close and open
I dislike the time
Why we need another hour
to mess with my day
Microscopic bugs
devour red, and gold bounty
falling from the trees
Rusty leaves falling
to the scrap-yard floor where they
will create new life.
One hundred thousand
leaves have fallen this past hour;
still more will follow.
Sunday October 14th, 2018, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul had their first snow storm of the season marking the start of another very long winter. Our weather here is really strange! Not all of the leaves have fallen yet. Mother Nature can be so impatient sometimes. Ah well, I guess it’s time to break out the snow shovels and buy a new bag of Sno-Melt. Thank God for attached garages and the Skywalk system between our downtown office buildings and of course Central-heating. Our high temperature today is predicted to reach 42F.
I got my inspiration for this post from a Haiku posted by scooj, naturaladventures. It was titled C2H5OH and contained three words with really jumped out at me. I thought the posting was both clever and unusual so much so in fact that I kept thinking bout it for many hours. At about 10:00p.m. yesterday evening I was reading in bed. I think I must have dozed off for a few minutes. I woke up and looked for my notepad and wrote the following:
SALVATION
Salvation a present possession not merely an object of hope, note: Ignatius bishop of Antioch wrote these words in ca. 167
RUINATION (an anagram)
Ruination through urination, pissing away one’s total wealth
MODERATION
Moderation, that happy balance between too much and not enough
Do twigs wag the log
like the tail that wags the dog?
Just the bark can tell!
