Carved stones were sent down
Moses in fit of anger
broke them. Still, rules count!

As you probably saw on Facebook, my veteran’s badge arrived today. So this is a thank you email for your effort to apply for and send this to me.
Now of course I have to ask; does this mean that people will start helping me across the road, or perhaps a free ice-cream on a hot summer’s day or perhaps a seat on the bus? Or better yet, DICOUNTS! Ah what fun it is to be a veteran. Makes me feel at least 10 years older.
There must be hundreds of thousands of veterans wandering the streets of Britain. I wonder if it would have been cheaper to give everyone who is not a veteran a badge.
So after all my cynicism, still a big thank you. I shall wear it proudly and tell everyone who asks me what the badge you are wearing is for; I shall tell them stories of El Alamein and bombing raids in the Ruhr Valley in Germany. Not that I was ever there of course, but it should be worth a pint or two – one way or another.
It used to be that
shops closed at noon on Wednesdays
is it still that way?
It is so silent
Just a kitchen clock ticking
I hear, ergo sum
I got my inspiration for this post from a Haiku posted by scooj, naturaladventures. It was titled C2H5OH and contained three words with really jumped out at me. I thought the posting was both clever and unusual so much so in fact that I kept thinking bout it for many hours. At about 10:00p.m. yesterday evening I was reading in bed. I think I must have dozed off for a few minutes. I woke up and looked for my notepad and wrote the following:
SALVATION
Salvation a present possession not merely an object of hope, note: Ignatius bishop of Antioch wrote these words in ca. 167
RUINATION (an anagram)
Ruination through urination, pissing away one’s total wealth
MODERATION
Moderation, that happy balance between too much and not enough
A quick note: I wake up quite often during the night; why I don’t know. But, in order to go back to sleep I count syllables (not sheep). I woke up this morning and my bedside note pad had this scrawled on it like public toilet graffiti.
Speculating on
what is or is not is a
waste of energy
While in east Berlin
I saw the unpainted side
of the Berlin wall
Today, it’s no longer there
Torn down by happy people
Arizona state.
Once I was in Old Tucson
Saw a great gun fight
Lot of noise but no one died
Not the same in Chicago
Peelers on their bikes
Police in their panda cars
old and new at work
Mark Twain they swing lead
measuring the water’s depth
as they ply their course
