Tomorrow is a Holiday in the USA. We call it Labor Day. The origin is a little obscure; which I will try to explain another time. Suffice it to say, Labor Day marks the end of summer and Tuesday will be back to school, nationwide for all students. Kindergarten through University.
As the reader will note, the title of this article is Hors de combat. Yes indeed I have been out of action for the last 16 months. No, I have not been languishing in a Donald Trump Lock-Up doing penance for all the bad but true things I have written about him. Instead I started back to work after a long break due to health issues. However, my health issues have not ended and so time management is a little tedious. My vision continues to be very impaired and now as if to add insult to injury my doctors are trying to decide whether to do surgery to remove one of the Sesamoid bones in the ball of my right foot.
That notwithstanding, going back to work has been quite pleasant. I work in a large downtown hotel in Saint Paul, Minnesota with a very large number of international travelers. Just up my street, so to speak,
On another note, but back to our mad-man president, it would seem the noose is getting tighter by the day and Trump is officially in panic mode. One wag researcher has calculated that since being in office Trump has told on average 7.6 lies per day. His lawyer (incidentally, another mad-man) won’t let Trump testify under oath on the grounds that he will commit perjury which is a felony offense in our justice system.
Otherwise the demise of the USA as a civilized and prosperous country continues at a rapid pace. We have alienated most if not all of our friends and allies, insulted almost every foreign head of state and thrown our justice system and rule of law on the garbage heap. Our political parties lead by Republican GOP Toadies are fighting each other for a place at the trough. That said, I’d better review and publish before this turns into a frustrated rant.

Great to have you back. I enjoy your essays on the Trump. It makes me feel like a kindred spirit subjected to the equally baffling madness in Brexit.

Stephen thank you for your comment. My sister who lives in Warwickshire dissuaded me from making a visit back to the UK until things sttle down. So the target date for me will be May of 2019. Can’t wait to visit some of the street art in Bristol. We’ll see how things go!
